Full Circle

First off, Happy New Years! I hope 2013 brings you many wonderful things like kittens, naps, cupcakes and new socks.

Do you ever have those moments when a small thing happens in your day but it causes you to stop and think for a while? I’m talking like life pondering type thinking.

As I headed out of my little hometown this past Sunday afternoon I stopped to get my usual iced coffee at the local Java. They handed me my cup and I stared as a sticker was stuck on the top of the cup advertising signups for the local fastpitch softball league.

Hollister Heat

Lost in reminiscing (and a little shock), I pulled my car over for a solid 5 minutes before resuming driving out of town. It’s painfully ironic that that little sticker came into my life right before the start of 2013. For about 10 years of my life, softball dominated my commitments.  Practices everyday, lessons in between practices, tournaments on weekends, high school league, summer and fall travel leagues. Round and round we went.

Until one day in 2010 when I decided to stop.

I think that was the first time in my life I ever made a huge decision on my own that I knew would trigger a change in my life’s events. And for the first time, I didn’t know exactly what was going to be next.

If I believe in anything, I believe in timing and signs. Seeing that little sticker on Sunday afternoon brought me back full circle and helped clear up a few things I’ve been pondering for the upcoming 2013 year. So thank you to whoever put that little sticker on my coffee cup on Sunday afternoon. It was kind of like a Sarah version of a fortune cookie.

I hope those of you reading this get your own versions of fortune cookies to help guide you over the next 365 days.

Ciao 2012. 2013 lets get it on.

This post brought backa lot of memories. I was very lucky to spend the type of time I spent with my daughter during those softball days. Do you remember the day the Heat won Nor Cal? You were the shit. Priceless. Dad
