TwentySeven Things: September 2014

It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these but I got the urge to reflect over the past month on Saturday. So here we go – my TwentySeven Things for September.

twenty seven logo word doc REVISED 2013

  1. This month was my Letter To Self month. I read a letter from 22-year-old Sarah to 23-year-old Sarah and it was kind of awesome. It’s really lovely to see how much you can grow in just 12 months. So much of my mindset and the way I approach things has changed – but in a good way. I finished my 2015 Letter To Self and can’t wait to read it next year.
  2. I went to the Made In America festival in Downtown LA over Labor Day Weekend and had the time of my life. I wore kimonos and flower crowns and flash tattoos and danced until my feet went numb. Oh and I got to be in the mosh pit to see John Mayer. Yes I was in a mosh pit for John Mayer. (Granted most people were staked out for Kanye but I was living for Mayer.)
  3. I became re-obsessed with Florence and The Machine because of this cover. Also I painted a Florence inspired canvas which you can see at the bottom of this post.
  4. Other artist’s I’ve been obsessed with this month include: Banks, Jessie Ware, Ryn Weaver, Kiesza, Echosmith, Betty Who and Walk The Moon.
  5. I went to the One Direction concert at the Rose Bowl. It was amazing and awesome and I danced and screamed a lot and I regret absolutely nothing.
  6. Fall TV is finally back! Mindy and New Girl and Nashville and Scandal and Grey’s and all of the other new shows mean I have something to come home to and express all the emotions about.
  7. I watched Oprah’s Super Soul Sunday about Paulo Coelho who spoke about the worldwide success of The Alchemist on its 25th anniversary. I was so inspired that I went out and bought my 5th copy of the book. Because I mean who isn’t a sucker for an anniversary edition?
  8. I started going to yoga again. Hiiiiii Core Power, I missed you lots lots lots.
  9. I went shopping this past weekend and bought a lot of Autumn inspired things like sweaters and jeans and kimonos made of thicker fabric. Because I gotta have my kimonos.
  10. Speaking of a fall wardrobe, all of my boots are back in rotation. Boots are back, back again. Boots are back, tell a friend.
  11. I’ve read probably 15 books in the past 4 weeks and that is not an exaggeration.
  12. I have made the conscious decision to be more positive in every aspect of my life because I realized (finally) that good things do not come to negative people. Negative attracts negative, positive attracts positive. Science amiright? (Probably not science but you get it.)
  13. I finally bought my Birkenstocks. I am in love and am never wearing another pair of shoes again.
  14. Unless they are these boots that I also just bought, because I love them too.
  15. With summer finally over, I’ve finally been able to spend a few weekends at home doing nothing and it has been awesome.
  16. My little herb garden is surprisingly still alive. It’s been two months. This is a new record for me sooooo claps for Sarah
  17. I finished both 30 Rock and Parks and Rec this past month. And by “finished” I mean re-watched both for the second and third time respectively.
  18. The Giants made the playoffs! #OrangeOctober begins this week.
  19. Currently trying to find a U-Pick apple orchard in Southern California because all I want to do this fall is pick apples.
  20. I also have been inspired by Pinterest to try and bake some things this fall like banana bread and muffins. Lots of muffins.
  21. My current sweet tooth obsession is salted caramel ice cream. I don’t even care which brand, as long as it’s salted caramel I will be purchasing it.
  22. Can I just say it has taken me a few weeks, but I am now fully onboard with the 1989 era of Taylor Swift. I did need some time (as I do every time she releases new music and it doesn’t sound like Fearless because duh Fearless era is the best era) but I am now fully on board and jam so hard to Shake It Off. Haters gonna hate hate hate hate hate.
  23. Quick Etsy update: dream catchers and headbands have been added to my shop!
  24. I still have purple hair. Kind of. It’s more lavender now (which I am so into) and it is slowly morphing itself into an ombre. Hair game strong.
  25. Re-watched First Wives Club. Inspired yet again to get a white power suit and kick ass.
  26. Countdown is now at 11 days until I get to see Tom Petty live. That means 11 days until I check “See American Girl played live” off my bucket list.
  27. My TwentySeventh thing for this list goes out to this little blog who turns two years old on the 8th. I must plan a little celebration in honor.

Some of my favorite snaps from the past month.

It’s only Thursday morning, but I woke up and prayed it was Friday already. Sadly, it was not. Last night I made another huge round of mugs that are going out this morning and as I was sitting there stamping my notes, wrapping the mugs and taping up the boxes, I realized how happy these stupid mugs make me. When I ship them out, I feel like Santa Claus delivering presents. Knowing that I’m helping someone either give or receive a little mug as a gift with their favorite lyric or quote makes me so happy. Just to be a part of that joy, even if it is minuscule, is a very good feeling.

So as much of a love-hate relationship these mugs have been over the holiday season with the late hours spent tracking them, painting them, and shipping them, I know it’s totally worth it in the end. When I think about how much I love giving gifts to others over the holidays and then realize that I am involved in that transaction for hundred of others worldwide, it’s kind of amazing.

Have fun traveling the world my little mug babies. I hope many people enjoy their favorite cup of coffee or tea with you over the holidays.

PS another random/cool/slightly creepy fact – lots of people now have my handwriting in their houses because of these mugs.

TwentySeven Things: June 2013

It’s Thursday which means it’s almost Friday which means it’s almost the weekend! Here are my TwentySeven Things for June.

twenty seven

  1. Yesterday my best friend left on the next adventure in her life on a one way ticket to Perth, Australia. Leaving her at LAX was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. If you saw a crying girl in Terminal 2 of LAX, it was me. I love you Kat and I miss you so much already.
  2. I’m currently obsessed with both the Phillip Phillips and Kacey Musgraves albums.
  3. I’m 4 episodes away from being completely done with Arrested Development. I’m not ready to say goodbye to the Bluths. I think I’ve made a huge mistake.
  4. I went home for a wedding the first weekend in June.
  5. Then I went home for my brothers confirmation and a baby shower the second weekend in June.
  6. When I drove home for the confirmation, I showed up at the wrong church.
  7. Then I went to Temecula for a 1st birthday party and Anaheim for Fathers Day for the third weekend in June.
  8. A 4 year old punched a 5 year old in Temecula.
  9. Candy Crush has taken over my life. I can’t stop playing. Or asking people to send me lives via Facebook.
  10. This still makes me cry laugh when I watch it.
  11. I started making smoothies a few times a day in an attempt to eat more vegetables. It seems to be the only way I can force myself to eat them.
  12. I was serenaded by a post man on a Thursday at 8:30am.
  13. I had lunch at The Ivy on Robertson for the first time and felt like such a fancy bitch.
  14. I got bangs. It took me 3 weeks but I finally like them.
  15. I lost my #1 guy in my Bachelorette bracket. I’ve been semi-boycotting the show ever since.
  16. John Mayer and Gavin DeGraw both released new singles this month. It’s been slightly emotional for me.
  17. I talked about finding myself again, 8 months later.
  18. I have officially surpassed 100 orders on my Etsy shop.
  19. This video is one of the cutest things I’ve ever seen.
  20. I wore my shirt inside out at work all day until 4:55pm when someone finally told me.
  21. I got to see my boys, the SF Giants, play the Dodgers in LA.
  22. Memorial Day was relaxing and glorious as I got to lay out by a pool with some of my favorites.
  23. I made it on the front page of the Taylor Swift: Diet Coke contest home page.
  24. I bought a leather journal.
  25. I got a roommate. She’s awesome and amazing and wonderful and I love her a lot.
  26. Summer Fridays at work have officially started! Which means summer is here and extra long weekends for all.
  27. DOMA, Prop 8 and Wendy Davis all in one day. America is doing it right.

PS This is my 200th post! It’s crazy how fast time goes. Happy 200th little blog. I lalala love you.
