Weekend Wrap Up: Oscars 2014

Standard

I herby motion for Ellen DeGenreres to host everything from now on. Pizza, fairy godmother dresses and the sefie that shook the nation. I still can’t get over the pizza. SHE ORDERED PIZZA AND THEN HANDED IT OUT. Brilliant.

I watched from a friends house last night where we started commenting and passing judgement on dresses at 4pm. Pizza was eaten, champagne was passed around and cookies were stuffed in faces. I cannot express my disappointment and extreme sadness over Leo not winning. Poor Leo, we were all pulling for you.

The rest of the weekend was spent watching Hart of Dixie (I’m finally onto Season 3), running a few errands and attending a going away party for one of my friends as she moves to the Bay Area for work.

Here are some of my favorite pictures and internet reactions to the show last night. Oh and my shirt? I made it an hour before the show in honor of Leo. Looks like I’ll still be able to use it next year SINCE HE DIDN’T WIN AGAIN.

Sick Child Weekend

Standard

My grand plans for this weekend of hiking and eating out with friends and cooking in my new crock pot did not happen. Instead, I moved back and forth from my bed to the couch because I was sick. I would go through spurts of feeling exhausted to having a bit of energy, so on my “ups” I would try to clean/rearrange the apartment. I moved my bedroom around a bit and love the way it turned out – the space feels open and refreshed after living here for almost two years. I’m in the process of doing the same to the living room but unfortunately halfway through one of my “up” energy spurts, my energy crashed and I ended up leaving the living room in slight disarray.

Things I did do this weekend:

  1. Assemble a new dresser from Ikea. I think the thought of not finishing this project and letting Ikea win yet another home furnishing battle is what kept pushing me onward.
  2. I watched all three series of Fresh Meat. I’m obsessed and I need more ASAP.
  3. I ordered a few things from the Victoria’s Secret semi-annual sale. Psssssst, better hurry before everything is gone.
  4. I made a new nightstand out of my old luggage pieces. Again, during an “up” energy spurt.
  5. I made grilled cheese for more than one meal. Who says soup is the only food a sick person needs?
  6. I made more mugs. Real shocker, I know.
  7. I found a stream to watch the new Sherlock season. Mind was fucked 5 minutes into the first episode.

Since I stayed home all weekend, here are some of my favorite Pinterest pictures that reminded me what the world looked like outside of my apartment walls.

Preparing for Thanksgiving

Standard

This weekend went by far too quickly. I spent most of my time celebrating a friend’s 24th birthday and the rest of the time being a lazy bum and having a 7 hour date with my DVR. The only other thing I did was dye my hair. Nothing too drastic, it’s just a 30 day washout color. Dark brown with a little bit of red that comes out in the sunlight.

The highlight of my weekend was going to breakfast with my roommate on Sunday morning. We branched out and tried this place called Crave in Studio City – it’s probably my new favorite breakfast spot. I’m never one for sweets in the morning but for some reason I was craving french toast (haha craving, get it GET IT) and it turned out to be one of the most delicious meals of my life.

Crave Breakfast

In other news, I’m trying to mentally prepare my stomach this week for Thanksgiving festivities. My mindset when going home is to eat everything in sight, so this week I’m going to try to detox and yoga as much as possible before that happens. I also have to brush up on my vocabulary to up my Scrabble game against my little brother. I’m coming for you bro bro.
